Understanding Goa through Food Histories

 

The vibrant and diverse culinary heritage of Goa is shaped by its history in trade, colonization and cultural exchange. In this culinary trail we take you to Museum of Goa, here among the works of art of some of the most celebrated local artists you will listen to the stories that reflect a beautiful tapestry of diverse influences. There will be documentary film screening, a guided tour through the museum which also has a food history section, a hands on painting experience and culminating with a traditional Pangat of one of the region's early inhabitants

 

Itinerary 

 

1100 hrs - Arrive at Museum of Goa, we gather at MOG Art Cafe within the Museum for a welcome drink and a short orientation about the schedule. 

 

1115 hrs - Guided tour of the Museum by our expert storytellers

 

1230 hrs - Documentary screening on the food history of Goa

1300 hrs - The team at the Art Studio will be ready for a short art activity where you get to paint a souvenir connected to the food history of Goa 

 

1345 hrs - Drive from Museum of Goa to Voltaire Restaurant in Reis Magos (15 minute drive) 

A charming restaurant overlooking the historic Mandovi river and next to the iconic Reis Magos Fort, this former warehouse is very aesthetically converted to restaurant that takes you back in time 

 

1400 hrs - Experience a detailed Pangat lunch served on Banana leaves, the especially curated menu will be a celebration of indigenous culinary practices. There will be seafood, vegetarian delicacies all cooked with spices and ingredients sourced locally  in the comfort of a tastefully designed restaurant overlooking the historic Mandovi River. 

 

1500hrs - Concluding discussion about the experience and departure.

This trail is viable for a group size of minimum 15 guests and maximum 30 guests
